A REVIEW
This Fairy Tale Weaves a Complex Tale through A Child's Perspective
We decided this was going to be designated as a read-aloud book for our 9-year-old, specifically because it brought up big decisions made by a child in the story that we could talk about.
This opened up some lively dialogue about how a child learns what is happening in an adult world - just by being a regular kid (and having a parent give a bit of steering, even from afar).
The real reason for a war of land greed and avarice was solved with the kids' help with concrete decisions and no heroics on their part. It was good to see a real-life conflict that could be a physical conflict even today - and see that even kids can challenge it!
Much was built on the way the story was slowly unwound. Our 9-year-old loved it, with mystery and intrigue and easy lessons Glory learned all along the way with interesting objects. The watercolor drawings were amazing and completely in step with the tale.
We give this one five stars.

Hot Off The Press!
While visiting Eltz Castle, Wendy surprised herself by saying, “This castle is so charming it makes me want to write a book, just so I can paint it in this setting!” And she did. The Crown, the Quilt, and the Cobbler, a fully illustrated 193 page novel for children, was inspired by that visit.

Eleven year old Glory’s delightful days as darling of the Kingdom of Nevin abruptly end when she is thrust into the role of reigning princess after her father, King Eben, departs to settle a borderland war.
Glory is equipped with a game of clues, left by her father, designed to give her wisdom for the challenges ahead.
At first, the clues seem random but then a pattern emerges. As the puzzle unfolds, Glory and her friends, young and old, devise a bold plan for the return of their king and his men to the Kingdom of Nevin. Will it work?
